Harry Romero & Joeski to Turn Up The Heat at SOUP February 13th

February 10, 2015

Our indomitable SOUP NYC residency is back, this time headlined by a team of emissaries for the soul of NYC house music. Harry Romero and Joeski, together HR & Ski, are each flag bearers for soulful rhythms in their own right, and as a duo they are invincible dancefloor maestros, repping for house’s Latino roots.

The child of an opera tenor father and a Latin music obsessive mother, Harry Romero’s appetite for passionate sounds led him to hip-hop and freestyle, and he soon found himself rocking decks in Jersey. He was then scooped up by the Strictly Rhythm imprint who put out his first release, the “Urban Turban” 12”, a mixture of indigenous sounds and futuristic grooves. His partnership with Jose Nunez under the moniker Constipated Monkeys turned out classics like “Cro-Magnon” and “Sunshine”.  If you happened to be in Dubai as of late, you might have caught him on the mix alongside Junior Sanchez.

A household name for any serious house devotee, Joeski is a veteran of NYC’s most influential spots including the Limelight, The Tunnel, and Palladium. After attaining the rank of worldwide phenom behind club decks, he became a resident at Montreal’s Playground where he began to focus in on production. Original tracks like “Earth Song” and “Hustler’s Revenge” were seminal efforts for dance music at the turn of the millennium, featuring uplifting beats and emotional samples. Around that time he founded Maya Records, which has since published talents like Jose M, TacoMan, Matheo Velez, as well as his joint efforts with Romero like the brand new “Chemical Imbalance”.

HR & Ski will be hitting the decks with their timeless sound on Friday, February 13 along with SOUP residents Love & Logic and Joe Pompeo, plus Mus.
