Richard Dinsdale née Weiss, the British DJ and producer hailing from London, has seen a remarkable past three years. Having practiced his DJ skills from a young age, Weiss decided an introduction to production was in order during the winter of 2012. As quickly as 2013, the UK artist saw major success with some of his earliest output. “My Sister”, one of his first tracks, hit the Beatport Top 10 chart and stayed there for four months after its initial premiere on B-Traits’ BBC Radio 1 show, receiving support from artists like Groove Armada, Loco Dice and Richie Hawtin. In January 2014, following an intense string of European club dates, he released “Guitar Man”, another Beatport Top 10 mainstay that garnered support from the likes of Green Velvet, Pete Tong, and Hot Since 82. Later in the year Weiss released his third EP as well as remixes for Marc Kichen and Tube & Berger; all music that was played out on the shores and clubs of Ibiza in Spain.
Weiss has played an influential role on Mark Knight’s Toolroom Records since they released the first volume of his Weiss City EP series. An ambassador of Knight’s #RESET campaign for the record label, Weiss has been selected by the Toolroom head knight himself to be the kingpin of this movement, starting with his mix on the Toolroom Live 01 compilation. The underground dance floor burner “I Believe” was exclusively featured on this mix, and it’s filled with warm sub frequency sounds, sharp percussions, and jacking grooves. Weiss takes his raw cuts to our Funktion One’s this Thursday, July 30th at Cielo!
