Two of New York’s turntable titans will be hitting the decks at Cielo for a night of percussive bliss. As a 15 year old in her native Colombia, DJ Hannah Gonzalez developed a passion for spinning tribal beats and house music which landed her numerous club gigs by the time she was 18. Now only 24 years old and also a working fitness model, Gonzalez has taken up production and is set to have the city’s electronic scene in the palm of her hand in no time.
Also a very young emerging talent, Elvin Tovar, also known as Momotek, was born in the Dominican Republic but grew up in New York City where his career began in the Lower Manhattan scene at smaller places like Lesouk, Sullivan Room, and Babel. Eventually his skill behind the decks would lead to huge gigs, like Pacha and Webster Hall, not to mention the Winter Music Conference in 2011, where DJ Hannah would debut two years later. He has already shared nights with the likes of Kenny Dope, Calvin Harris, Chus & Ceballos, and Oscar G.
Hannah and Tovar will be carrying the torch for a new generation of techno and tribal house enthusiasts this Thursday, August 20th. Heads, take note!
